Our church: A vibrant community hub

Discover the heart of our community at the Church of the Good Shepherd. For over 65 years, we've been a central gathering place on the Pear Tree Estate, evolving into a thriving hub thanks to The Good Shepherds Group. Join us in celebrating our journey and contributing to our bright future.

A cherished history in Rugeley

The Church of the Good Shepherd has been a cornerstone of the Pear Tree Estate in Rugeley for over 65 years. Opening its doors in May 1959, it quickly became a central point for the community, hosting everything from worship services to craft clubs, children's after-school activities, and exercise classes. It has always been more than just a church; it's a place where the community connects and grows.

Revived by The Good Shepherds Group

After falling into disrepair and temporarily closing during the Covid Pandemic, the church's future looked uncertain. However, in December 2023, a group of dedicated local residents formed The Good Shepherds Group. Their mission: to save the church and reopen it for the community. Today, the church is thriving once more, hosting numerous regular groups and serving predominantly as a vital community hub.

Welcoming all ages and groups

We proudly welcome groups of all ages to utilise our hall. From children's enrichment programmes to activities designed for older people, our space serves a diverse range of community needs. We are dedicated to providing a warm and inclusive environment where everyone feels at home and can engage in enriching activities.

"It's wonderful to see the church bustling with life again, thanks to The Good Shepherds Group. It truly feels like the heart of our community."
